Georgene Loh’s secrets to a cozy and aesthetic interior

Interiors of recent years are focused on details. Nowdays a well-placed lamp, a striking vase or a coffee table can elevate a space into a work of art. These elements become the focal points. You stop noticing the walls, the floor, the ceiling, even though those are important too, and focus on the little things that make a unique and aesthetically pleasing space.

Singaporean blogger, Georgene Loh, advises against limiting oneself to ceiling lights and suggests utilizing wall sconces, table lamps, and LED neon lights. He believes that soft, diffused light from chandeliers creates depth and enlivens the interior, while neon lights and sconces highlight details. The blogger favors lamps in red, orange, and yellow hues.

Turns out, lighting influences one's emotional and physical state. Yellow light fosters a sense of coziness, white lighting enhances productivity. Red light instills a feeling of confidence, while orange stimulates the nervous system. To expand a space, the blogger suggests introducing indoor plants. He himself admits to being a big fan of Platyceriums.

He has adorned a wall with these plants and placed a Japanese evergreen tree near his sofa.  He writes on Instagram:

"I've always loved adding greenery indoors without compromising on style!"

Select plants appropriate for each room: smaller ones for accents, larger ones to create focal points. When selecting furniture, Loh prioritizes functionality above all else:

"The furniture choice reflects your personality in your space. However, each piece should serve a purpose first".

In his loft every element of the interior seamlessly blends into the space and has a designated function. For instance, he has an armchair where he often reads. Above the lounge hangs a lamp, and next to it stands a side table where he keeps his books. And nearby, within arm's reach, is a desk lamp. Loh also advises against fearing the mixing of styles and colors, as long as they harmonize. For example, he frequently utilizes chrome accents that create a unified look. Learn more about why Georgene Loh favors open shelving and which apps he recommends for crafting harmonious interiors on his YouTube, Instagram and TikTok

When rearranging, renovating, or selecting furniture for your home, ask yourself: Do you want a more spacious feel, or a more intimate space? Do you prefer cozy comfort, cushions, and textiles, or sharp angles, broken lines, and geometric shapes? Do you crave vibrant colors or prefer calming tones? Interior design can harmonise, support, and balance our state of mind, filling life with colours or offering a sense of calm.

The aesthetic of home space isn't about expensive design, but about listening to your inner voice and following your impulses. Only then can you truly define what beauty means to you.
