«New ideas are born where trades meet»

Helsinki Design Week (HDW) is the largest design and architecture festival in Scandinavia. It will take place from September 6th to 15th in the Finnish capital. The festival's main venue will be the old bank hall at Paasivuorenkatu 3. HDW Programme Director Anni Korkman said the main stage of festival:

“The building is perfectly suited to our annual theme Underneath, which invites you to get to know our designed environment beyond the ordinary. <…> This year, we will therefore focus on planning and implementing a high-quality Talks programme. Instead of a big main exhibition, we will bring interesting speakers from different design fields to this year’s main venue, evening parties drawing on various phenomena of urban culture”.

Paasivuorenkatu 3 offers free, accessible entry. Discussions on current design topics will be held there. On September 13th interior designer Yuki Abe will take park in the discussions. The participation is free and does not require registration. Abe works in Mottowasabi Oy founded by him. He is also a partner and a design director at Luomoa Oy. He has mainly designed furniture for the Finnish furniture company Vivero, which is known for its highquality Finnish furniture for public spaces, although he has also designed tables for Selka-line and acoustic partitions for Barrisol.
